We designed and built the clients previous cottage garden and they are self-building a new home in the middle of Market Harborough. The house itself is south-facing and sits on a raised elevation with views out over the park. The front garden is mainly to be put over to a block paved driveway with small pockets of planting around the edges. The driveway is to be lined with Carpinus betulus 'Hornbeam' trees to provide some green but also to screen off the adjacent buildings providing privacy.
The rear garden is shallow and because the master bedroom is downstairs it has lent itself to the creation of a series of small gardens broken up by hedging and cordon fruit trees linked together through the use of clay paver paths. There will be a kitchen garden complete with corten steel raised planters. A herbaceaous garden for blousy colour, a morning garden by the master bedroom complete with a multi-stemmed Amelanchier and small bistro seating area for breakfast on the terrace. Throughout the rest of the garden there are focal points for sculptures and feature pots which the clients have aquired over the years.
