Despite being built for a children's hospice, this garden was actually designed for the staff and parents. A place of reflection and relaxation that had a nod to current trends. With retro furnishings, unusual materials and technology, the garden ticked a lot of boxes for the brand new 'Fresh Garden' category.
Large frosted acrylic screens sat at angles forming the boundary walls - allowing the silhouettes of people and plants to be created on them. Four multi-stemmed Amelanchier trees created ceiling height whilst a sunken bed of carpet planting, which can only be crossed by stepping stones, divided up the spaces.
Polished Yorkstone paving and gravel formed the remaining hard space whilst the garden was wrapped in a belt of lush green perennial planting. The finishing touches were added with additional digitally projected silhouettes, lighting and inviting furniture.
