These clients had recently built a new contemporary cedar clad house on the site of an old mill. The house was built adjacent to a stream and with stunning views across the wider landscape but one that had no garden. Our brief was to create modern garden that surrounded the house whilst maintaining a connection to the wider landscape.
We set about designing a Californian-inspired gravel garden with lots of textured plants and bright flowers. The three metal arches created a lovely vista from the snug and were powder-coated in the same colour as the windows of the house.
The weathered bolders acted both as a piece of sculpture but also seating. We also created a small kitchen garden to the rear and a meadow bank complete with oak jetty down to the stream edge.
